Biographies

An avid reader and eager student, Austin Roberts lives life by the pool – filling his time with both Varsity Water Polo and Varsity Swim Team.  He was born in 1994 and has lived almost all of his life in Orange County. His hobbies include cooking and listening to music, but he aspires to be a lawyer in his later years.

Nick Tran is currently a junior at Irvine High School.  He was bornin Fountain Valley, California. His hobbies include bike riding and maintaining his aquariums.  His future goals include becoming amechanical engineer and a pilot. He hopes to travel the world and open abusiness one day.

Anton Pham was born in Irvine in 1994. He is a brother to three sisters, two older and one younger. His passion is anything Disney and Modern Family. In his free time, he enjoys playing a variety of musical instruments. Anton hopes to find a suitable career in which he can directly help people and make the world a better place.

Bryton Horner is a determined and charismatic honors student at Irvine High. Outside of traditional studies, he enjoys computer science, 2-D studio art, and music theory. Bryton's breadth of interests leaves him with vague plans for higher education, but his competitiveness will carry him down whichever path he may choose. Whatever his career (or even perhaps lack thereof ) may be, Bryton's greatest goal is to make an extraordinary contribution to society.

Eric Graham is an intelligent, perceptive and passionate young teenager. He enjoys talking with his friends and meeting new people. Eric has enjoyed reading books ever since he was in elementary school, his first book series being “Harry Potter” before he entered middle school. He is also open-minded about new things and isn’t quick to judge people at first sight. Eric excels in acting, math and science, so he hopes to become either an engineer or an actor.

Albert Lee is an APUSH student who was born in San Jose, CA on July 10, 1995. In his spare time, he enjoys playing guitar, playing video games, or roughhousing with the dog. He plans to attend USC and become a doctor.

Tim Steen is currently an Irvine High School student and plans to attend one of the Universities of California. If he doesn’t have his hands full with homework, you can find him working on his car or hanging out with his friends. He is also heavily involved at church as well as ASB and Student Forum. Tim Steen’s life goal is to raise a family.

Dalia Assoum was born in Los Angeles, California and lived there for 15 years before moving to Irvine in 2011. She enjoys reading, art, outdoor activities, and the ocean. Dalia's favorite book is Traveling Light by Katrina Kittle.  She hopes to attend a 4 year college after she graduates from Irvine High School.

Patrick King was born in Newport Beach, California in 1995. He currently attends Irvine High School, where he wrestles and plays trombone in the marching band. In his spare time, he enjoys backpacking, cooking, and reading Tom Clancy. After high school, he plans to join the United States Air Force.

Ethan Hwang is a junior at Irvine High School and he is one of the writers for Mr. Sewell. Ethan moved total of 18 times his whole life and transferred high school twice, making Irvine High the third high school for him. He is a hard worker and can barely find any time with his 5 AP classes. But at the same time, Ethan is very glad the junior is going towards the end, and he is very excited for college apps and the future in front of him. Ethan hopes to be a successful engineer one day who can succeed in both working and enjoying his life.

Kamran Farzaneh is currently a junior at Irvine High School in Irvine, California. Born in Newport Beach, he has lived in Irvine and attended its schools since his young years. He enjoys relaxing and working on new materials and subjects. His ambitions include learning the trade of law and living a comfortable life.

Kenny Gea was born in 1995, in Fountain Valley, California. He is a competitive junior tennis player who travels around the nation playing tournaments. At home, Gea enjoys playing video games on the computer. Among his favorites are Dota 2, Spiral Knights, and Left 4 Dead 2. He enjoys mental challenges such as playing chess and Rubik’s cubing. His favorite phrase in chess is “Push that H-pawn!” and he can solve a Rubik’s cube in under 20 seconds.

Daniel Kim is currently a junior at Irvine High School. He enjoys playing tennis when he’s outside, playing League of Legends when he’s inside, and sleeping when it is night. Meeting his soul mate is his strongest desire. He is happy that he finally finished his junior year.

Janaki Nakum is currently a junior at Irvine High School. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, traveling around the world, practicing dance, volunteering at local events, and spending time with her family and friends. Her future goals include attending university and traveling to every country in the world.

Jenson Wang is a guy who spent his whole weekend writing this essay. In his spare time, he likes to have tea parties with his sister, make friendship bracelets, and practice toning down his good looks so that people will not get hurt from his blinding handsomeness. He hopes to become a lawyer in the future.

 Maggie Chava was born in India in 1995 and came to the U.S. in 2000. She lives with her mom, dad, and sister in Irvine, CA. She enjoys watching TV, shopping, eating, and hanging out with friends. She hopes to attend a well-known university and become a CEO one day.

Zeina Mousa is a student and athlete at Irvine High School. She is a part of the Track and Field program. Her best subject in school is English and hopes to gain an English degree later in life.  As of now she likes to live life day by day. She’s always there for anyone in need of a friend and her goal each day is to make at least one person smile. She is shy at first glance but once you get to know her you will start to see the outgoing and weird side that she has.

Wayne Chen is currently a junior at Irvine High School. In his free time, he enjoys eating food and spending time with family. His hobbies include playing the violin and tennis. He is an avid fan of the Spurs and Angels. In the future, he hopes to combat injustices such as child trafficking.

Allen Ma was born in Logan, Utah in 1995. A self-proclaimed social elite, Allen exemplifies everything that Holden Caulfield would deem “phony.” In his spare time, he usually spends his days idling away in front of a computer. Allen enjoys listening to ambient and ethereal music and takes pride in the fact that he has not yet succumbed to the shoddy abyss that is pop.

A student at Irvine High, George Zhao always meets deadlines. He aspires to be Mr. Sewell's favorite student. He loves chocolate covered walnuts. He plays in the sandbox at night and enjoys sleeping on campus. His favorite color is indigo.

Joshua Kim was born in Anchorage, Alaska in 1995. When he is not studying he enjoys playing games, hanging out with friends, and sleeping. Josh has been part of the wrestling team at school ever since his freshman year and plans to wrestle in his senior year. In the future Josh plans to attend a four year university and maybe pursue a graduate career after college. He plans on being either a firefighter or to be a forensics investigator.

Along with trying hard not to disappoint her stereotypical Asian parents, Je ssica Ni is in Chorale and Irvine Singers. She’s a shy girl, and won’t open up if you’re not close to her. In her free time, she enjoys singing, writing fictional stories and poetry, playing computer games like League of Legends, reading, and folding origami. Jessica’s main goal in life is to be happy. 

Daniel Trask is a Junior at Irvine High School. He currents occupies most of his time enjoying video games at a high level. He also likes to participate in Quiz Bowl, a national trivia competition that has constant tournaments around the nation. Attempting to major in Computer game design, he chose photography as a topic for its uniqueness from the other art forms.

Trevor Malard was born in Bismarck, ND in 1994 and is of Native American heritage. He is introspective with a unique world view, yet eccentric and often times boisterous. With Lakota Sioux blood rushing through his veins, he is determined to face the world as a writer and confront worldwide psychological and philosophical issues marring the surface of humanity.

Zoe Love moved to Irvine, California in 2011 from Hickory, North Carolina where she was raised. Zoe enjoys participating in the school orchestra, competing on the track team, and spending quality time with friends. She hopes to attend the University of North Carolina or the University of California Santa Barbara.

Benjamin Chiang is currently a junior at Irvine High School. Besides schoolwork, he has the responsibilities of balancing many extracurricular activities including orchestra, choir, swimming, community service through the National Honor Society, and Quiz Bowl.

Kaylah Ramirez was born October 26,1994. Currently she plays Varsity Lacrosse at Irvine High and is apart of IHS’s Intermediate Dance and Advanced Women’s Ensemble: Canta Bella. She is an active member of Key Club and Red Cross.

Jenny Hwang was born on March 19th, 1995. She really loves animals and hopes to pursue a career in veterinary in the future. Her hobbies include shopping, eating, playing piano, going on a walk, and listening to music. She is currently volunteering at an animal shelter and a veterinary to further study her interest.

Sierra Schiano became interested in swing music in 2007 when she discovered an Andrew Sisters CD in the back of her parent’s car. Since then, she has expanded her love of jazz to encompass the works of Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and much more. Sierra also enjoys singing, reading, laughing, and enjoying long walks on the beach at sunset.

Eugene Won was born in Elgin, Illinois in 1994.  His hobbies include, but are not limited to, studying, sleeping, eating, and playing golf and other sports.  Eugene aspires to attend a prestigious university and to become a renowned entrepreneur or athlete.  He hopes he will continue his enjoyment of great food, domination in sports and games, and successful pursuit of beautiful women.

An aspiring psychologist, Gabriel Taba spends most of his time socializing with friends and eating franks. He has a passion for philosophy and enjoys deep, thoughtful, conversations with those around him. His wish is to one day travel the world to experience new cultures and open his mind to new beliefs.

Nabeel Ghayasuddin was born in Hollywood, California. He has moved 3 times in his high school career, each time in a different grade level. He is an intelligent, hard-working student who has optimistic views about life. He enjoys using technology in class and helping others in academics. His future goals include going to Baylor University in Texas and studying medicine for a career. He hopes to use his talents in technology and apply them to the field of medicine, innovating and inventing new possibilities for a better world.

Grace Seo is a junior at Irvine High School. She is sixteen years old, going on seventeen in August, and her hobbies include hanging out with friends, eating, shopping, and painting.  She does not do extremely well in school, but she is starting to try harder. She has an obsession with Starbucks, caramel candies, and accessories. In the future she hopes to become successful through a career that she loves.

Bradley Hankus is an awesome dude who loves to play volleyball, be chill, and do well in school. Everyone looks up to him as a role model on how to live their lives and also how to be just a completely amazing person. He gets straight A’s in school without even having to try because all his teachers love him so much.

Joshua Koo was born in a cool fall morning, on October 16th, 1995 at Seoul, South Korea. He lived there until the age of four, and then moved to Irvine, CA where he currently lives today. He likes to spend his past time playing video games, hanging out with friends, and sleeping whenever he can. He has an interest in the U.S. Navy, and he is currently attending the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC). Through this, he plans to earn a scholarship through the NROTC program and live his days as an engineer.

Monique Kim was born in Torrance, California on June 28, 1995. In her spare time, she likes to practice the piano, sing, watch dramas, and spend time with her friends and family. In whatever may lie in her future, Monique wishes to continue developing musical talent and growing in a pleasant musical environment.

Jacob Kim was born in Anchorage, Alaska. In fourth grade he moved to Irvine and continued his education up to now. Whenever there is time, he enjoys playing video games, hanging out with friends, and cooking. He has a passion for wrestling and hopes to be the best of the best. In the near future he plans on attending Cal Baptist University, and live life to the fullest.

Thy Ho is a cool, awesome, hip, nice, funny, crazy, unique, and spontaneous youngster. She enjoys hanging out with Simba, who is not just her pet dog, but is also her only friend. Thy’s favorite pastimes are petting platypuses and throwing popcorn at people in movie theaters. Her goals in life are to grow an afro and shave her unibrow.

An avid singer, Wesley Chiu participates actively in Irvine Singers and Chorale and enjoys making music at every opportunity.  He plans to major in Aeronautical Engineering and aspires to become a fighter pilot for the United States Air Force. 

Rudraksh Saxena is an extremely tall, handsome and hilarious scholar. His hobbies include watching movies, eating fried chicken and playing basketball. His future goals include going to University of California, Irvine and earning a degree in chemical engineering and or computer science and settling down some place in the east coast. He also aspires to be world famous.

Kenny Song currently attends Irvine High School. He is a “God of Tetris” (the highest level) in all the different competition levels. Not only can he perform well in electronic sports but also physical sports. He competes in tennis, table tennis, and billiards. Kenny will pursue a future in professional billiards and tennis and will be only the second man to enter the hall of fame in two sports.

Victor Law was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1993. He is usually bored by school. If he is not bored then he is having fun. When he grows up, he wants to send a rocket into space because he believes space is interesting. The human race will have to eventually go live on the moon.

Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Joyce Sun is a junior at Irvine High School. In her spare time, she enjoys talking with friends, singing and playing piano, and eating good food. Her future goals include riding a motorcycle, visiting Europe, and attending university.

Paul Kim was born on May 11, 1995. He is an avid League of Legends player. He also participates in many quiz bowl tournaments. He is known among his teammates as Paul Kimsol due to there being another Paul Kim on the same team. His knowledge of pop culture is extremely lacking as he did not know who the Beatles were until Ms. Peck enlightened him and his only knowledge of Elvis came from Lilo and Stitch. His hobbies are sleeping and eating. Even with his busy schedule, Paul finds time to play games and play his clarinet. Despite his horrible work ethic, he barely manages to scrape by with his grades and hopes to attend medical school in the near future.  

Frank Qiu is currently a student at Irvine High who spends his afternoons doing homework. However, he spends his nights fighting crime under the alias “Chuck Norris”. As a result of his daring exploits, Frank has a TV show based on his life (Walker: Texas Ranger) and gets free fries at the local Burger King. His aspirations include protecting the world from evil robot overlords and getting a decent sleep.
